Detailed Description of 3LPE Coated Steel Pipe
The 3LPE coating system is known internationally as one of the highest levels of external pipeline protection technology in the world. It comprises the excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance of FBE, with the superior mechanical protection and moisture barrier of polyethylene (PE). Each layer is synergistic in long-term protection.
Layer 1: Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) Primer: This is the main corrosion barrier and a strong bond to the steel surface.
Layer 2: Copolymer Adhesive: This serves to chemically "bridge" the FBE primer to the polyethylene topcoat, so that the three layers of the system will bond together.
Layer 3: Polyethylene (PE) Top Coat: Provides a strong physical barrier to mechanical damage, wear and tear due to abrasion, and soil stress during transportation, installation, and in operation.

Main Application Areas
3LPE Coated Steel Pipe is the best anti-corrosion solution for onshore and shallow water buried pipelines:
● Oil & Gas Transmission Pipelines: The coating of choice for transporting oil and gas around the world.
● Municipal Gas Networks: Preserves the safety and longevity of systems delivering gas to cities.
● Water Supply Pipelines: Used for long distance transmission mains, and particularly the buried section.
● Chemical and Industrial Pipelines: For buried pipelines that will transport some type of corrosive media.
● Power Plant Circulating Water Pipelines: Provides reliable corrosion protection.
Advantages of 3LPE Coated Steel Pipe
● Excellent Overall Performance: Merged the benefits of FBE and PE for the ultimate anti-corrosion and mechanical protection.
● Long Life: Designed to last over 50 years.
● Strong Adhesion: The three-layer structure will provide dis-bonding resistance.
● High Cathodic Disbondment Resistance: Stays intact in electrochemical corrosion environments.
● High Mechanical Strength: Can withstand harsh conditions encountered during the installation of pipelines (e.g. horizontal directional drilling) and soil stress.
● Low Moisture Permeation: The polyethylene outer layer provides a moisture barrier.
