Solar Tracking System Supply for COVATILLAS and BETIERRA Large-Scale Solar PV Projects in Spain

Project Background

Spain, as one of the leading countries in European renewable energy development, has vigorously promoted the construction of large-scale solar PV plants in recent years. The Castilla-La Mancha region has become a key development area due to its excellent solar resources. The COVATILLAS and BETIERRA project portfolio is a significant 150MW large-scale photovoltaic generation facility in this region, aiming to maximize clean energy output using advanced solar tracking technology. Our company supplied the core 150MW single-axis solar tracking systems for this project portfolio.

Client Challenge

● Precise deployment and coordination of a large-scale tracking system: A 150MW project scale involves the installation of a vast number of tracker units, imposing extremely high demands on on-site logistics management, installation accuracy, and coordination with civil, electrical, and other engineering works.

● Tracker performance and long-term reliability: The client required the tracking system to operate stably for the long term under local variable climatic conditions (such as strong winds, temperature fluctuations) and maintain high-precision solar tracking to ensure the power plant's generation efficiency and return on investment.

● Adaptability to complex terrain and optimized design: The project site might have certain topographical undulations, requiring the tracking system to have good terrain adaptability. Optimized design was needed to reduce land leveling work and lower costs.

● Meeting strict grid-connection timelines and cost targets: Large-scale PV projects typically have stringent deadlines for grid connection and cost control objectives. The supply and installation efficiency of the tracking system directly impacts the overall project schedule and economics.

Our Solution and Results

● Supply of advanced single-axis tracking systems: We provided technologically leading and extensively validated single-axis solar tracking systems, featuring high tracking accuracy, excellent structural stability, and low operation and maintenance costs.

● Customized site adaptability design: Our engineering team provided customized design and fine-tuning of the tracking system based on the project's specific topography, geomorphology, and wind conditions to ensure optimal installation and power generation performance, while also optimizing foundation design.

● Lean supply chain and logistics management: For the large-scale supply demand of 150MW, we formulated a meticulous production plan and phased logistics distribution scheme, ensuring that tracker components could be accurately and orderly delivered to the site in line with the construction schedule.

● Comprehensive technical support and training: We provided detailed installation manuals and remote technical guidance. If required, we dispatched experienced technical personnel to the site to offer installation supervision and commissioning support, ensuring the correct and efficient installation and operation of the tracking system.

Project Outcomes

We successfully delivered all solar tracking systems for the 150MW COVATILLAS and BETIERRA solar project portfolio in Spain on schedule and provided effective technical support, contributing to the smooth construction and operation of this large-scale power plant. The efficient operation of the tracking systems significantly increased the power generation of the plant, bringing good economic benefits to the client. The successful implementation of this project fully demonstrated our leading technology and project execution capabilities in the field of large-scale solar tracking systems, further consolidating our position in the European renewable energy market.
