China LSAW Steel Pipe Suppliers - High-Quality Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded Steel Pipe Factory
Detailed Description of LSAW Pipe
LSAW steel pipe is a kind of large diameter steel pipe, which is mainly used for long-distance transportation of oil, natural gas and other fluids. Its manufacturing process begins with hot rolled steel plate, which is molded into a cylinder by UOE (sequentially bent into U-shape, O-shape and then enlarged) or JCOE (rolled edges and then sequentially bent into J-shape, C-shape, O-shape and then enlarged), and then finally welded inside and outside the weld seam by Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) technology, where the arc is covered by a layer of flux during the welding process.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q
What does LSAW stand for, and how is it different from SSAW pipe?
LSAW stands for Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding. Unlike SSAW (Spiral Submerged Arc Welding) pipe, which is formed by spirally winding a steel strip, LSAW pipe is formed from a single flat steel plate bent into a cylinder with a straight longitudinal weld seam. This gives LSAW pipe superior strength, dimensional accuracy, and suitability for high-pressure applications.
Q
What are the main manufacturing processes used for LSAW pipe?
LSAW pipe is primarily produced using two methods: UOE (the plate is pressed into a U-shape, then an O-shape, and finally expanded) and JCOE (the plate is progressively pressed into J, C, and O shapes before expansion). Both methods use Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) to weld the seam from both inside and outside the pipe.
Q
What international standards does LSAW pipe comply with?
LSAW pipe can be manufactured to a wide range of international standards, including API 5L (PSL1 & PSL2), ISO 3183, ASTM A252 / A671 / A672 / A53 / A500, EN10219 / EN10217 / EN10210, DIN 2458, GB/T 9711-2023, GB/T 3091, SY/T 5037, JIS G3444, and GOST 20295.
Q
What is the typical size range available for LSAW steel pipe?
LSAW pipe is available in outer diameters ranging from 406mm to 1626mm (16" to 64"), with wall thicknesses from 6.0mm to 75mm. Standard pipe lengths range from 6m to 12.5m, with 12m (SRL/DRL) being the most common delivery length.
Q
What surface treatment options are available for LSAW pipe?
Multiple surface treatment options are available depending on the application environment, including bare, black painting, varnish, anti-rust oil, 3PE coating, FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy), epoxy coating, and Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) for offshore or subsea pipeline projects.
Q
What quality inspections are performed on LSAW pipe before delivery?
LSAW pipe undergoes comprehensive quality inspections including Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Testing (Tensile, Impact, and Hardness tests), Hydrostatic Testing, Non-Destructive Testing (Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing), and Dimensional Inspection to ensure full compliance with the specified standards.
