China LSAW Steel Pipe Suppliers - Quality Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded Pipe from Reliable Factory

,

LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded) steel pipe is a high-quality, large-diameter steel pipe produced from hot rolled steel plate or coil. This process involves pre-bending and roll-forming the steel using techniques such as the UOE method or JCOE method to create an open barrel. The pipe is then fused through a straight weld using internal and external double-sided submerged arc welding (SAW). The core of this manufacturing method relies on a flux layer beneath the melting wire and base material, ensuring exceptional welding quality. This makes LSAW steel pipes ideal for high-pressure long-distance transmission pipelines dedicated to oil, natural gas, and other fluids.

    Detailed Description of LSAW Pipe

LSAW steel pipe is a kind of large diameter steel pipe, which is mainly used for long-distance transportation of oil, natural gas and other fluids. Its manufacturing process begins with hot rolled steel plate, which is molded into a cylinder by UOE (sequentially bent into U-shape, O-shape and then enlarged) or JCOE (rolled edges and then sequentially bent into J-shape, C-shape, O-shape and then enlarged), and then finally welded inside and outside the weld seam by Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) technology, where the arc is covered by a layer of flux during the welding process.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q What does LSAW stand for, and how is LSAW pipe manufactured?
LSAW stands for Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding. LSAW pipes are manufactured from hot-rolled steel plates that are formed into a cylindrical shape using either the UOE process (U-shape → O-shape → Expansion) or the JCOE process (J-shape → C-shape → O-shape → Expansion), followed by internal and external welding using Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) technology.
Q What are the standard outer diameter and wall thickness ranges for LSAW pipe?
LSAW pipes are available in outer diameters ranging from 406mm to 1626mm (16" to 64") and wall thicknesses from 6.0mm to 75mm (typically up to 50mm), making them suitable for large-scale pipeline infrastructure projects.
Q Which international standards apply to LSAW steel pipe?
    LSAW pipes can be produced to a wide range of international standards, including API 5L (PSL1 & PSL2), ISO 3183, ASTM A252, ASTM A671, ASTM A672, EN10219, EN10217, DIN 2458, GB/T 9711-2023, GB/T3091, SY/T5037, ASTM A53, ASTM A500, EN10210, JIS G3444, and GOST 20295.
Q What surface treatment options are available for LSAW pipes?
LSAW pipes can be supplied with various surface treatments to enhance corrosion resistance and service life, including: Bare, Black painting, Varnish, Anti-rust oil, 3PE coating, FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy), Epoxy coating, and Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) for subsea or buried pipeline applications.
Q What quality inspections are performed on LSAW pipes?
LSAW pipes undergo rigorous quality control procedures, including Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Testing (Tensile, Impact, Hardness), Hydrostatic Testing, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT), as well as Dimensional Inspection.
Q What are the main applications of LSAW steel pipe?
LSAW steel pipes are primarily used for long-distance transportation of oil, natural gas, and other fluids. Due to their large diameter, high strength, and excellent weld quality, they are also widely used in offshore pipelines, structural piling, water transmission, and high-pressure fluid conveyance projects.
