ASTM A105 is a standard specification for carbon steel forgings used in piping applications, while A105N indicates the material has undergone normalizing heat treatment, which improves its mechanical properties and toughness, making it more suitable for high-pressure environments.
Grades like ASTM A182 F316L offer excellent corrosion resistance in chloride-rich environments, while 904L provides superior resistance to sulfuric acid and other aggressive chemicals. These grades are ideal for applications in chemical processing, marine, and offshore industries.
ASTM A182 F91 and F92 are chromium-molybdenum alloy steels specifically designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service, commonly used in power generation plants and petrochemical facilities where elevated operating temperatures are encountered.
RF (Raised Face) is the most common flange face type, providing a concentrated seating area for gaskets. FF (Flat Face) is used when mating with flat face flanges, typically in low-pressure systems. FTJ (Female Tongue and Groove Joint) provides a more secure, leak-proof seal and is used in high-pressure or critical applications.
