Detailed Description of FBE Coated Steel Pipe
Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating is a high-quality external anti-corrosion coating. The coating works by electrostatically spraying a specially formulated epoxy resin powder onto a pre-treated (typically sandblasted to Sa2.5 grade) sample of steel pipe. This treated pipe sample has been preheated (to approximately 200 - 250°C) too. The powder will melt as it impacts the pre-heated surface and the melted powder will flow and cure to form a tough, continuous, seamless protective film. This process is called "fusion bonding" - a bonding for the coating to the steel pipe that includes both chemical and physical bonding.

Main Application Areas
FBE coated steel pipe is frequently and widely used in both onshore and offshore pipeline systems because of its stable anti-corrosive properties:
● Oil and Gas Pipelines: Mainlines and branch lines transporting crude oil, refined products, and natural gas.
● Potable Water Pipelines: FBE can provide potable water approved coatings for your municipal water supply systems.
● Sewage and Wastewater Pipelines: In municipal sewage and industrial wastewater treatment systems.
● Fire Protection Pipelines: As used in underground fire-fighting pipe networks for long-lasting corrosion protection.
● Chemical Pipelines: For the transport of certain corrosive chemical media.
● Slurry Pipelines: Suitable for transporting slurry due to the good resistance to abrasive wear.
Advantages of FBE Coated Steel Pipe
Excellent Adhesion: Forms a strong chemical bond with the steel surface, resisting disbondment and blistering.
Superior Corrosion Resistance: Effectively protects against corrosion from soil, water, chemicals, and other media.
Good Mechanical Properties: The tough coating offers excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, and bending.
Simple Application: As a single-layer system, the application process is relatively simple and efficient.
Strong Resistance to Cathodic Disbondment: Maintains coating integrity in electrochemical corrosion environments.
Long Service History: A proven, mature, and reliable pipeline protection technology.
