CORTEC STEEL LIMITEDThe "Quality Code" for forging the quality benchmark of EPC projects

CORTEC STEEL LIMITED has built up a quality management moat throughout the whole life cycle of its projects by refining its expertise in 47 overseas EPC projects over the past 18 years. As one of the first Chinese companies to pass the international certification of API, EN, CNAS steel structure, its quality control system has been certified by PetroChina, Sinopec, Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company, Kazakhstan National Petroleum Company, and other owners in 16 countries.

Breakthrough in the customization of Australian and American dual standard steel pipes

In the iron ore water transmission project in Western Australia, the Shoulder Pipe developed by Kotec for BHP Billiton (BHP) has become the industry benchmark. The product not only meets the stringent requirements of ±0.15mm wall thickness tolerance in the Australian AS1163 standard, but is also synchronized with the customer-specified limit of 54J weld impact toughness in the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 standard. The quality team has developed 12 versions of welding operation guidebook for this purpose, in which the visual inspection standard is refined to 0.2mm biting edge depth determination threshold, and the hydrostatic testing procedure is precisely controlled in accordance with the Australian standard, and the weld qualification rate reaches 99.92% at one time.

PV customization

PV customizationFull-link specialization for tracking racking

Since entering the PV field in 2018, Kotex has customized tracking PV racking systems for the Middle East and North Africa market. In the 700MW photovoltaic park project in Dubai, UAE, the technical team pioneered the "dynamic load simulation + climatic accelerated aging" dual verification mode for the local temperature difference of 50℃ and high salt spray environment. Through 12 customized tests such as salt spray test of 3000 hours (20% more than the industry standard) and flare test of radial deformation of ≤2%, the team has successfully overcome the anti-fatigue problem of the bracket structure in the sandstorm-prone area. At present, the project has formed 14 technical patents from BOM list traceability to rapid on-site assembly.

3D modeling to preview the whole project

During the startup phase of the Jubail project in Saudi Arabia, a special team of seven registered quality engineers conducted 3D modeling of the 28,000-square-meter pipeline network through BIM technology. They identified 17 pressure-bearing weaknesses in the original design of the pipe fittings and increased the design life to 35 years through a material upgrade program. This digital twin-based demand resolution model has increased project planning accuracy by 40% compared to the industry average.

Intelligent Storage and Transportation

Intelligent Storage and Transportation Environmental Laboratory in a Container

When transporting core equipment for the Mozambique LNG project, technicians equipped each 40-foot container with temperature and humidity sensors and three-dimensional accelerometers. When a container's humidity exceeds the standard by 0.3% during transportation, the system automatically activates the dehumidification device and generates a 22-page environmental monitoring report upon arrival. This intelligent monitoring system has already avoided transportation losses worth 4.3 million dollars.

Scaffolding Efficiency Jumps 40% on Mexico Project

Corteco pioneered the “Modular Cutting + Intelligent Pre-grouping” technology in response to the mismatch between the American Standard scaffolding used by the Mexican customer and the actual working conditions on site. The original design of 20 feet standard pipe section led to 18% loss rate of on-site splicing, the technical team re-designed 9.8m/14.7m dual-module pipe fittings system according to the customer's special span demand of 14.7m. Optimizing the node connection through finite element analysis, under the premise of maintaining the ANSI/ASSE A10.8 load-bearing standard, the aerial working platform construction efficiency was increased by 40%, and the material loss rate was reduced to 3.2%.

Heavy Oil Tackling

Heavy Oil TacklingAccurate Protection of Oil Casing in All Processes

In the FAJA heavy oil belt development project of PDVSA in Venezuela, Kotec has completed the delivery of 8,000 tons of API 5CT J55 oil casing with "zero delay". In response to the customer's special requirements for the corrosive environment in the ultra-thick oil zone of Orinoco, the quality team carried out 24-hour on-site supervision at the Chilean steel mill, increased the sensitivity of UT flaw detection to 0.8mm (30% higher than the API 5CT standard), and the project team synchronously developed the Spanish-language version of the “Casing Service Life Cycle Handbook” which contains 237 inspection points, realizing full digital control and management, from the raw material traceability (precise to the number of the steelmaking furnace) to the port and shipment. The project was finally delivered ahead of the contract period.
