Detailed Description of Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel Pipe

Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium coated steel pipe is a modern metallic coated pipe product that has a better service life than galvanized steel. ZAM is manufactured by the continuous hot dip process which results in the ZAM coating being evenly applied to the base steel. The alloying components are essential for the corrosion performance. The aluminum and magnesium Alloying components provide a very fine dense and stable protective film (Simonkolleite) that is substantially more corrosion resistant than pure zinc. An unusual feature of this type of metallic coating is it's "self-healing", or sacrificial protection properties; if a piece of ZAM pipe is cut or scraped away, and as a result the exposed edge is bare steel, then a zinc-based protective film will now form over the bare edge of the steel which will seriously inhibit any red rust formation.

Main Application Areas for Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Pipe

Its outstanding performance makes it the preferred material for a variety of extreme, long-life applications:

    ● PV Solar Structure Systems: The only material used for ground-mounted and rooftop solar panel racking, posts, and trackers where real-world outdoor life cycle is critical.

    ● Agriculture Greenhouses: Structural elements and frames designed to survive humid and corrosive agricultural conditions.

    ● Animal Husbandry: Fencing, pens, and other types of livestock farming structures exposed to animal wastes.

    ● Construction: Purlins, girders, cable trays, and HVAC ducting used in coastal or corrosive environments.

    ● Infrastructure: Highway guardrails, sound barriers, and other external service applications where maintenance is infrequent.

    Advantages of Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel Pipe

    ● Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: Provides 5-10 times the corrosion protection of the same coating weight of traditional hot-dip galvanized steel.

    ● Cut-Edge Protection: Self-healing properties provide fantastic rust protection on all cut edges and penetrations.

    ● Thinner & Lighter: Excellent protection with a thinner coating, making a final product that is lighter.

    ● Cost-Effective: An even longer service life and reduced maintenance can lead to low lifecycle costs.

    ● Environmental Benefits: Less zinc used and less zinc runoff than in any conventional galvanizing process.
