Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Coated Steel Pipe Suppliers - Premium Quality from China Factory for Corrosion Resistance
Detailed Description of Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel Pipe
Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium coated steel pipe is a modern metallic coated pipe product that has a better service life than galvanized steel. ZAM is manufactured by the continuous hot dip process which results in the ZAM coating being evenly applied to the base steel. The alloying components are essential for the corrosion performance. The aluminum and magnesium alloying components provide a very fine dense and stable protective film (Simonkolleite) that is substantially more corrosion resistant than pure zinc.
An unusual feature of this type of metallic coating is its "self-healing", or sacrificial protection properties — if a piece of ZAM pipe is cut or scraped away, and as a result the exposed edge is bare steel, then a zinc-based protective film will form over the bare edge of the steel, which will seriously inhibit any red rust formation.
