ZAM is manufactured by the continuous hot dip process which results in the ZAM coating being evenly applied to the base steel. The alloying components are essential for the corrosion performance. The aluminum and magnesium alloying components provide a very fine dense and stable protective film (Simonkolleite) that is substantially more corrosion resistant than pure zinc.
